December by Efrain

The World, Thanksgiving, Holidays, New Year, NYC deal of the month...

December NYC

 Efrain Duenas

Holidays are here, 2015 is over, hello 2016!

It's seems like I'm getting older.. I don't know about you but for me every year goes by faster than the previous year ( I find myself saying the same "Oh this year flew away so fast" ) This is certainly a busy month, filled with joy, celebrations, family, feasts, etc.

The world is resilient.

Even after being hit with negativity and hate attacks, I feel that the world is unifying and who doesn't agree will try to slow it down, Thanks to social media we are part of every developing story no matter where we are. This allows us to strengthen our human touch, to be kind to others, to love, forget and move forward with our heads up.

Thanksgiving.
I hope you enjoyed your thanksgiving and got to indulge with your family's best recipes. ( I ate thanksgiving leftovers for 3 days in a row) I am thankful for so many things and hope you are too.  We got a little taste of the cold weather but I read somewhere that this will be a very mild winter but next year the " El niƱo phenomenon " will be very strong next year (lots of rains) and although this is a Pacific Ocean anomaly NYC and the east coast will be impacted too.

Merry Christmas - Happy Hanukkah -Happy Holidays

May these holidays fill your heart with warmth and love, along the company of your loved ones, always give a smile to people you want to see smile.

Happy New Year!.

Let the celebration continue! From 2015 to 2016 again, feast, joy, party, etc. in whichever order you think is best.
So far it seems like the end of this year will be on the warm side, so let's plan ahead for great weather until next summer.
Wishing you the best from the bottom of my heart, health, love, family, wealth and success in every endeavor you may take on.

Short term Furnished apartments for rent in NYC

Looking to rent a furnished apartment in NYC for 2 or 3 months?

Well you and hundreds of students, interns, relocating professionals and people who's renovating their fancy apartments.

It is very challenging to find an apartment in NYC period. If you want to make this a mission impossible task.. well add furniture and hope that they rent it to you for 3 or more months only.

Finding one..
Almost impossible! please do not go to Craigslist, I've heard stories that you wouldn't want to know.

Pricing..
Let's put it this way.. If there is a regular full term 1 Bdr apartment in the Upper East side for $3000 a month..

The furnished short term version of that would go for $4000 to $4500 or more.. (I know right! crazy) But wait it gets better! 99.9% of the time you'll have to pay everything upfront!!

So if you are looking to rent this apartment for $4000 a month for 3 months, you'll have to pay $4000 x 3months =$1200 + 1 month security deposit (refundable) $4000 + Broker commission for finding the apartment and make sure they accept you (1 month) $4000 The gran total!! $20,000.00

 I'll itemize it for you.
 Rent $4000 x 3        = $1200
Security deposit       = $4000 (refundable)
Broker commission  = $4000
Total ----------------     $20,000.00

I know Crazy!! If you are having trouble finding your short term rental, Let me help you!

Homemade Cheddar Broccoli Soup

Homemade Cheddar Broccoli Soup

Be hold everybody!! Ezzy's photography's first Online recipe!

As some of you might know I love cooking and creating my own concoctions.. never keep recipes so bear with me here.. I'll show you how I made this amazing really fun and tasty Broccoli soup.
You'll be so happy you gave it a try your kids will eat the spoon and the plate!

I don't know if you were paying attention but I said I never keep recipes nor I ever follow them so everything here is measure with my eyes and hope you develop your very own x-ray measuring vision.

Let's get started..

Ingredients you'll need (servings for 2):

1 Broccoli head
1/2 a red onion
Butter
Milk
Heavy cream
White aged cheddar cheese
Salt
Pepper
Oregano

(this already looks like a recipe)

Cut half of the onion and cut the broccoli stems so you can wash the broccoli head..

Throw your onions to a sautƩ pan (fancy for throw your onions to a frying pan) I used butter so they get a lot more flavor, season with salt pepper and garlic, I used garlic powder.. Leave for a little while until they start getting golden.. look at the picture! Exercise your measuring vision!

In another pan blanch your broccoli for until you notice the water starting to boil.. then take the cute greener broccolis out right away!
Now your onions are done, take them out with a spoon and throw them in your food processor. Leave the melted butter left over in the pan as we are to sautĆ©  the broccolis the same way until you get them cooked all the way and they show slight brown golden spots.
Pour some milk on the pan so the milk soaks all the flavors.. I would say like a cup and a half.. Leave simmer for like 2 minutes...

Cut some white cheddar cheese and add it to the pan... Is up to you how much cheese you'd like to add.. But don't hold me responsible if you end up making a cheese broccoli dip instead of broccoli soup...

Used this cheese.. pretty good.

Now as you can see throw everything in the food processor... don't forget about the onions! add more milk if you need to. This is where I added around half a cup of heavy cream.. oh! add a tiny sprinkle of oregano for flavoring.
Process the living hell out of these goodies and it will leave a nice texture, you'll have tiny pieces of broccoli to chew. If you don't want texture in your soup then use a blender you big baby...

VoilĆ”!! Soup is ready!

Enjoy!

MICROPHONE RODE NTG-2 REVIEW

WELL,

I BOUGTH A MICROPHONE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. IT WAS THE -- RODE NTG-1--
RETURNED IT BECAUSE FOR IT TO WORK YOU HAVE TO BUY AN EXTERNAL POWER SOURCE AND IS MORE $$ TO YOUR POCKET, SO INSTEAD I GOT THE RODE NTG-2 WHICH IS THE SAME THING BUT IT WORKS WITH ONLY 1 AA BATTERY, NO EXTRA EXTERNAL POWER...

OVERALL THIS IS A GREAT MICROPHONE.
IN THIS REVIEW I TRIED 3 DIFFERENT METHODS TO GET GOOD SOUND

1) DSLR BUILT IN MICROPHONE TEST (NO NTG-2 MIC)

2)RODE NTG-2 PLUGGED IN DIRECTLY TO CAMERA (NO ADAPTERS)

3)RODE NTG-2 PLUGGED IN TO MY MACBOOK PRO, RECORD TO A SOFTWARE CALLED " AUDIO HIJACK PRO" THEN SYNC IT THROUGH FINAL CUT PRO OR THE VIDEO EDITING SOFTWARE OF YOUR CHOICE,

YOU WILL HEAR THE DIFFERENCE AND HOPEFULLY GO WITH THE BEST OPTION!

HOWEVER WHEN YOU USE THIS ---> ZOOM H4N HANDY PORTABLE DIGITAL <---RECORDER IS MUCH BETTER,  RECORDS THE AUDIO THEN YOU SYNC IT WITH YOUR VIDEO EDITOR. BESIDES YOU CAN NOT TAKE YOUR LAPTOP TO OUTSIDE LOCATIONS AND TRY TO RECORD ON IT BY HOLDING IT. JUST PUT IN YOUR POCKET AND GO (THE ADAPTER THAT IS!)

THE BEST OPTION IS TO HOOK YOUR NTG-2 TO THIS ---> BEACHTEK DXA-5DA PASSIVE DUAL XLR AUDIO ADAPTER. YOU SCREW IT TO YOUR DSLR THROUGH THE TRIPOD BOLT AND GOES NEXT TO YOUR CAMERA WITH THE MIC. (SEE PIC)

WELL HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL FOR YOU. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK. DONT FORGET TO LIKE MY YOUTUBE VIDEOS AND MY FACEBOOK PHOTOGRAPHY PAGE. SHOW SOME SUPPORT!!

Jacques Torres Chocolate, New York

Walking after a photoshoot in the brooklyn bridge park I saw this nice little cozy place that grabbed my attention.. It was really cold outside so I decided to go in to get a coffee or a hot cocoa, Beautiful place, feels like your grandma is cooking you some sweets!!
They have sooo many chocolates and cookies! I had to buy a dozen of assorted chocolates to try them!
I got a small and pretty box and gave it to my wife as a pre Valentines gift.. ( I ate most of them lol)

This is what I got from their Website:

Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, on Water Street, you will find the first Jacques Torres Chocolate location. From street level, visitors can glimpse the chocolate factory in action and the store shelves filled with chocolate treats.

So if you ever walk by one of their many locations in NYC Stop, Step in and treat yourself to some Jacques Torres Chocolate!!

Caracas Arepa Bar

After a day of hard working and meeting with clients, I decided to take my wife for a small, cute and different dinner so we went to Caracas Arepa Bar. The Best arepas in the City! If you dont know what arepas are.. Well they are Venezuelan crispy corn meal tortillas like, very fluffy in the middle and stuffed with your choice of filling, Shredded beef, chorizo, etc. finished up with some traditional cheese and their signature spicy sauce.. YUM!!

For dessert we had a nice little Tres leches cake with coconut... Very Good!
Highly Recommended and prices are Great!
